WOW! What an awesome experience we had creating awareness for wetlands at the Prawn Festival, which took place at the Kenilworth Racecourse Conservation Area in February. With February being Wetlands Month, the Kenilworth Racecourse Conservation Area staff thought it fitting to showcase the vital importance of wetlands and what they offer by holding a wetlands exhibition at the festival. Being home to 16 extremely important seasonal wetlands, the reserve hosts several endangered amphibians and serves as a vital eco-system. Our exhibition attracted over 100 people attending the Prawn Festival, mostly young and curious to see what we have to offer. The stall displayed various types of plants and animals found in or around wetlands and in discussion we explained how they all work together and rely on each other for survival.
