CTEET was invited to be part of the local organising committee for the 20th Marine and Coastal Educators Network Conference held in January. Four CTEET educators attended the conference and were fortunate to visit sites around Cape Town and the West Coast, meet like-minded people and be part of a 20 year legacy.

According to our Outreach Educator, Nondumiso Myataza, “the conference was a great experience and a wonderful start to 2020. The MCEN conference was the inspiration needed for a new year, especially when it comes to meeting people who are also passionate about environmental education and programme development. It also led to numerous engagements and potential future collaborations. Furthermore, the conference was an opportunity for the four CTEET educators to learn from other organisations and share what they do through a presentation of our activities”.

Not only was CTEET visible at the conference through their distinct clapping action but two of the CTEET educators, Tammy-Lee Appolis and Phindile Gazu, won the Best Novice Presentation prize.

All four of the CTEET educators were acknowledged for being first-time presenters at the conference and two educators were part of the winning team in the Potjie Competition! “A big thank you to those who made this opportunity possible for us”, says Nondumiso.
