September marks National Arbour month in South Africa. This month we showed our appreciation for our heritage and indigenous trees. Trees play an important role in nature by providing us with oxygen, mitigating climate change effects by sequestering Carbon, stabilising soil, and most importantly habitat for wildlife.

The Kenilworth Racecourse Conservation Area team celebrated the importance of planting trees with the learners at Pelican Park Primary School. We got our hands dirty and helped transform their school garden to a place where the learners and teachers can relax and appreciate nature. A generous donation of indigenous Fynbos plants and trees were received from Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens with great appreciation.

The Earth belongs to us all, and what better way to encourage awareness and a love for nature than with the youth!
