National Biodiversity Offset Guideline issued under section 24J of the National Environmental Management Act has recently been published. You can find it here.

This guideline has been developed to assist in identifying when biodiversity offsets are likely to be required as mitigation by any competent authority and to present the basic principles for biodiversity offsetting. In short, this document is intended to guide offset practice in the environmental authorization application context.

This guideline has taken several years to come to fruition, and Nature Connect is hopeful that it will prove to be a useful tool that assists all parties in the quest towards sustainable development in South Africa.
