Our CATHSSETA learnership group recently had the privilege of undergoing training at the Geelbek Education Centre, located in the West Coast National Park and operated by Nature Connect. The Centre’s charming buildings transport you to a bygone era, while its stunning location overlooking the Langebaan Lagoon provides a natural setting for immersive learning.

Under the guidance of Landi Retief, our learners delved into Fauna Management, which is Module Four of the Further Education and Training Certificate in Nature Conservation: Natural Resource Guardianship Terrestrial. This module covers the management of wildlife and its impacts on the surrounding communities. Engaging discussions, informative practical exercises, and application-oriented learning methods helped our learners gain a thorough understanding of the subject matter.

During our stay, the learners also set up camera traps, which captured some fascinating visitors to the site! Check out the attached pictures to see two of these surprise guests.

Undoubtedly, being immersed in nature while learning adds an extra dimension to the educational experience, leading to a more profound and long-lasting impact. Congratulations to the team and learners for a job well done!
