VACANCY: Hospitality Coordinator

Job Purpose:

Nature Connect, a multi-faceted and dynamic environmental organisation, is looking for a driven, positive, and service-orientated individual to work collaboratively within a team of self-motivated professionals. The successful candidate will be required to apply a mix of skills and approaches to oversee the hospitality aspects of our education and training initiatives, specifically our overnight camps. As the Hospitality Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the camp, from meals to accommodations, are of the highest quality and meet the needs of our clients. The incumbent will be responsible for liaising with vendors, coordinating logistics, and ensuring that all safety and environmental standards are adhered to.

Job Information:

Location: Multiple – between our Environmental Education Centre in Zeekoevlei (Southern Suburbs), Bokbaai (West Coast), Cape Town, and other sites in the Western Cape.

Position Type: Full-time position, 2 Year contract

Qualification: diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of work experience in food service operations, preferably in a camp or outdoor setting.

Salary Range: R14 500 – R18 000 per month depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

The key functions of this role include the following:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure the highest quality and cost-effective delivery of hospitality services.
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of catering, including menu planning, ordering, shopping, cooking, and all other related logistics.
  • Ensure that accommodations are clean, safe, and meet the needs of our clients.
  • Oversee the set-up, maintenance, and clean-up of all hospitality areas.
  • Coordinate transportation logistics to and from the campsite.
  • Maintain accurate records of hospitality expenditures and budget management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the smooth running of the overnight camps.
  • Ensure that all health and safety and environmental standards are adhered to.

Job Requirements:

  • Valid Code EB (08) Driver’s License, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
  • Reliable personal vehicle.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in hospitality management, preferably in a camp or outdoor setting.
  • Experience in preparing and coordinating camp meals for large groups of youth and adults.
  • Strong organizational skills, logistically and practically minded with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and work within financial constraints.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Passion for environmental conservation and education.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and after hours as required.
  • Planning, organising, and managing the daily operations of the hospitality staff to ensure efficiency.
  • Supervising staff members and communicating the importance of customer satisfaction.
  • Attending to any complaints logged by clients in a professional and timely manner.
