Sustainable Schools wins Gold for Eco-Innovation at the 2026 Eco-Logic Awards!

We’re delighted to share that the Sustainable Schools Online Hub has won Gold in the Eco-Innovation category at the 2026 Eco-Logic Awards, announced on 5 October at the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town.
The Eco-Logic Awards, now in their 15th year, recognise individuals, organisations and initiatives making a positive contribution to the environment. Winning Gold in the Eco-Innovation category is particularly meaningful, as it recognises an approach we’ve worked hard to develop – to make environmental education and practical sustainability action more accessible to schools across South Africa.
Innovation with purpose
For us, the innovation of the Online Hub has been finding practical ways to overcome the barriers that prevent schools from accessing the resources, support and opportunities they need to make a difference.
Designed to be mobile-friendly and low-data, the Hub brings together curriculum-aligned resources, teacher development, practical project tools and a connected community of schools and sustainable development partners.
By combining this technology with our personalised coaching and support, we’re helping schools move beyond once-off environmental activities towards meaningful, measurable and lasting change.
That combination is what makes this award so special. It recognises not just a digital platform, but an approach that connects teachers, learners and communities with the tools and support to take action for the environment.
A win we share with our schools and partners
Since 2021, Sustainable Schools has grown into a network of more than 200 schools across eight provinces, reaching over 3,200 educators and 72,000 learners.
Behind these numbers are teachers and learners taking practical steps to make their schools more sustainable, from restoring biodiversity and saving water to managing waste and bringing their communities together around environmental action.
We’re incredibly proud to receive this recognition, but we also know that the real impact happens in our schools every day.
A huge thank you to the Sustainable Schools team, partner organisations, supporters, and funders, and most importantly, to the dedicated teachers and learners who continue to bring sustainability to life.
This Gold award belongs to the whole Sustainable Schools community; we’re excited to keep building on what we’ve achieved together.
