Nature Needs Skilled Hands
Nature Connect equips South African youth with conservation skills through accredited learnerships, internships, and short courses.

Nature Connect’s learnerships are accredited programmes designed to equip unemployed individuals with essential work-based learning & development opportunities, and employed individuals with critical skills for careers in conservation and the green economy.
These include qualifications like the National Certificate in Nature Conservation: Resource Guardianship (NQF 4), delivered through partnerships with CATHSSETA and QCTO

Nature Connect’s internships provide graduates and work-integrated learners with real-world experience in conservation, environmental education, and green skills development. Interns are mentored throughout their placement and often transition into permanent roles within the organisation or sector.
Highlights:
Interns from programmes like Groen Sebenza have become full-time staff, contributing to Nature Connect’s mission.
Interns gain exposure to fieldwork, community engagement, and project management.
This pathway is essential for bridging academic learning with practical application and long-term employment.

Nature Connect offers a range of short courses tailored to conservation fieldwork and environmental safety. These are ideal for upskilling staff, community members, and learners in specific competencies.
Available courses include: Brush Cutter Operator; Chainsaw Operator; Snake Awareness & First Aid; Herbicide Application; River Erosion Management; Health & Safety Rep; and more.
These courses are modular, affordable, and designed to be accessible to a wide range of participants, supporting both entry-level and advanced conservation roles.
